What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works Laborer position at City of Vine Grove?
The Public Works Team Member is responsible for performing various job functions to aid daily operations within the City. Work will include maintaining the water distribution system, the sewer collections system, and grounds keeping of city properties. Job functions are subject to change from day to day.
Job Functions:
Must work as a team member.
Effectively use heavy and light equipment depending on jobsite/assignment.
The skilled use of hand tools.
Maintain City roads and street signs.
Repair water and sewer lines as needed, and installing new water services.
Maintain daily logs of water usage and chlorine levels.
Collect or assist in the collection of water samples for laboratory tests.
Inspect equipment to ensure proper function.
Perform a variety of physical duties and others as assigned.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
Qualifications:
Must be able to understand and execute actions based on verbal and visual instructions.
Hours of operations Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Subject to after duty hours and a rotating on call schedule.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Must live 45 minutes from Vine Grove City limits.
Background check, valid driver's license, and a high school diploma or GED is required.
