What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpenter I position at City of Virginia Beach?
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Carpenter to join our team. In this role, you will assist in a wide variety of building repairs, renovations, and construction for City facilities. You will receive work order assignments from your supervisor and perform tasks that include:
- General maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair of city buildings and facilities
- Repair furniture, doors, windows, locks, door closures, panic bars and all types of roofs
- Pour concrete, assist in framing, trim, siding, cornice, roofing and cabinetry on public buildings and facilities
- Operate a pressure washer. Have knowledge of repair and installation of brick pavers.
- Use a multitude of tools and equipment associated with the trade to construct and repair various wood articles
- May also be required to move furniture.
- Effectively assist in building or repairing all types of structures in accordance with standards of the trade.
- Correctly operate hand and power tools following all safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean vehicle and job site.
- Keep neat and orderly records in order for future reference and statistical purposes.
- Must have good customer service.
- Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described in the job description.
This is a safety sensitive position; you must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and pass a mandatory drug test.
