What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Development Administrator position at City of Virginia Beach?
The City of Virginia Beach Economic Development is recruiting a Project Development Administrator to oversee the Project Development Division, manage the work of City staff, professionals and consultants contracted by the Project Development Division. This position will coordinate with City agencies, and private developers on planning, design and development projects assigned to the Project Development Team and approved by the Development Authority Board. As a City Manager appointee, this position serves at the pleasure of the City Manager and is not considered part of the merit service as defined in City Code, section 2-75.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

Oversee and manage the Project Development Team and the Economic and Tourism Development Capital Improvement Program, the City of Virginia Beach Development Authority’s business parks and assets, and the operating budget for these assigned areas.

Identify and implement catalyst projects, specific actions, required funds, and timing for executing various public and private initiatives integral to the City’s strategic plans. Take action as warranted to expedite projects and to inform City Leadership of the need to revise plans or financing.

Coordinate with City and regional agencies for the planning, implementation, and completion of public initiatives identified by the Economic Development Department and/or Development Authority Board.

Collaborate with private developers to design projects that align with the City’s long-range vision; and develop solutions to facilitate implementation.

Perform, or secure services of others, related to land acquisition, environmental assessment, legal services, market and feasibility studies, financing options, land planning, civil engineering, and architectural services.

Develop and maintain management information and project reporting system to regularly brief City authorities of the status of activities/projects.

Represent City plans, projects, and policies to various civic and professional organizations and to the general public. Provide highlights and summaries of adopted plans, current information, and project status updates.

Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs.
