What are the responsibilities and job description for the Waste Management Route Supervisor position at City of Virginia Beach?
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Waste Management Route Supervisor. Duties include:
- Assigns employees to specific crews
- Coordinate and implement the collection of refuse from assigned routes; and supervise crews engages in waste collection on assigned routes.
- Inspects work in progress
- Inspects routes after collection; coordinates routes when vehicles are down;
- Inspects vehicle to assure proper use by employees; operates waste management vehicles and equipment on an as needed basis
- Investigates accidents and incidents and implements corrective measures; review daily reports to ensure productivity by all operators; conduct safety briefings;
- Writes work orders for special collection observed on routes;
- Communicates with the public
- Administers disciplinary actions
- Ensures City policies and safety procedures are followed
- Must possess a valid Virginia Commercial driver's license
This is a safety sensitive position and is subject to mandatory drug testing. Positive drug test results may result in counseling and/or discipline, up to and including, termination.
