What are the responsibilities and job description for the House Manager (Community Services Specialist IV) position at City of Vista?
Under the direction of the Ticket Office Manager, the House Manager is responsible for the overall operation, public relations, and crowd control at the Moonlight Amphitheatre and/or AVO Playhouse on performance nights, preview nights, and at special events, concerts, graduations and all other rentals; supervises Amphitheatre Attendants and Backstage Parking Attendants; also works closely with Shuttle Bus Drivers and Volunteer Ushers.Begins set up on show nights; unlocks restrooms, entrance gates, and lawn chair storage areas; checks facilities for cleanliness and safety. Conducts Amphitheatre Attendant briefing and assigns positions.
Serves as liaison between Front of House Staff and Stage Management.
Communicates with the Usher Coordinator.
Solves problems as needed.
Makes House Announcements as needed.
Assists theatre patrons as needed. Responds to questions and other requests.
Enforces house rules. Mediates disputes between theatre patrons and staff.
Operates house lights as needed.
Ensures that performances begin on time.
Takes charge, with Stage Management, of emergency situations to ensure public safety and security. Contacts emergency personnel and law enforcement if necessary.
Completes nightly House Manager Report and any Accident Reports.
Keeps track of hours for Front of House staff, including managing breaks and making sure staff is released on time.QUALIFICATIONS
Education – Must have graduated from, or be currently enrolled in, an educational institution working to obtain a high school diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent. College course work preferred.
Experience – Prior theatre house management or related work experience preferred.
CPR/First Aid Certification – Preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Daily lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds without mechanical assistance.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays, depending upon season program needs.
Required Apparel
Person hired must wear standard apparel as prescribed by the Recreation and Community Services Department.
SELECTION PROCESS:All properly completed applications will be reviewed, and the most qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the selection process. A pre-employment drug test and live scan fingerprint (background check), paid by the city, will be required.
