Summary

Position Overview

The Airport Manager oversees the operations, planning, and staff management of Waco Regional Airport (ACT). This leadership role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving strategic growth initiatives. Reporting to senior City leadership, the Airport Manager manages all aspects of airport operations, including general aviation, airline relations, security, emergency planning, and customer experience. This position requires proactive problem-solving, independent judgment, and a focus on continuous improvement to meet city goals and evolving industry standards.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in in Aviation Management, Business, Public Administration or a related field and five (5) years experience in operational management of a commercial service airport; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Texas driver's license required upon hire.

Knowledge of :

  • State and Federal codes and regulations relating to airport facilities and aviation operations, including FAA, TXDOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and OSHA safety standards.
  • Aviation program planning and marketing principles.
  • General aviation and airport operation methods, practices and security procedures.
  • Lease and contract development and negotiation principles.
  • Techniques and practices for efficient and cost-effective management of resources.
  • Skills in :

  • Interpreting and applying airport operational and safety standards and procedures, applicable federal rules and regulations and City policies and procedures.
  • Interpreting customer needs and solving customer service issues.
  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of business software.
  • Managing staff, delegating tasks and authority and coaching to improve staff performance.
  • Preparing, reviewing and presenting management reports.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with City employees, officials and representatives from other local, state and federal agencies.
