Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- Driver's License
- Associate's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or Public Administration
- Two years of experience in construction management and building inspection; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- International Code Council (ICC) Plans Examiner certification is required within one year of employment.
Position Overview:
Under basic supervision, performs plan reviews for proposed residential and commercial buildings for the Building Safety Department (BSD); examines building plans before permit issuance and verifies plans are in compliance with building and safety codes, laws, regulations, and standards.
Essential Functions:
- Performs and facilitates plan reviews for commercial and residential plan review projects; verifies compliance with state and federal building and safety regulations, City policies, and department standards.
- Communicates with City departments, residents, and contractors to coordinate the resolution of permitting issues and technical questions; issues permit within the scope of authority.
