POSITION SUMMARY
The employee is responsible for the ground maintenance of all City of Wamego facilities. The employee must possess good maintenance and ground maintenance skills. The City of Wamego is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug Free Work Place.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains the exterior grounds of all city buildings
Assists in prepping baseball/softball/soccer fields
Sweeping, weed-eating, trash pick up
Snow and ice removal
Assists other departments as required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience: Minimum one (1) year of similar experience and/or education preferred. The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the job satisfactorily in accordance with the adopted personnel policies of the city.
Education: A high school diploma or GED required. The employee must be able to obtain a valid Commercial Drivers License within one (1) year of employment and maintain license.
Technical Skills: The employee should have basic mechanical and math skills. The employee must be able to read, interpret and follow written and verbal instructions
Supervision: Employee receives direct supervision from the facilities manager and does not perform any supervisory duties.
Working Environment: The employee works in all climate conditions; exposure to various types of weather including adverse conditions may be expected.
Physical Demands: Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity to safely operate basic equipment and a wide variety of tools required. The employee performs manual labor including digging, standing, bending, climbing, walking, lifting and carrying heavy loads daily. The employee must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Work Hours: Primary working hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am–4:00pm. Hours may vary depending upon department/City needs and adjustments are made to the schedule to accommodate these demands when necessary. The employee may be asked to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holiday hours and subject to emergency call outs on short notice may occur.
