ORDINANCE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

The City of Warren is accepting applications for a part-time Ordinance Enforcement Officer within the department of Codes and Planning. This position is responsible for assisting the Codes department with enforcement of property maintenance issues, such as high grass, and insuring compliance with City Nuisance and Zoning Ordinances.

NATURE OF WORK

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION :

This is a part-time position responsible for assisting the Codes Department with enforcement of property maintenance issues, such as high grass, and insuring compliance with City Nuisance and Zoning Ordinances.

This is a position under the direct supervision and general direction of the Director of Codes and Planning

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Ability to organize, plan ahead and prioritize.

2. Required to abide by and comply with established Departmental and City policies, procedures and standards.

3. Ability to quickly learn and navigate City streets to become familiar with the City's neighborhoods and landmarks.

4. Ability to maintain acceptable level of attendance and perform the duties of the position in a safe and efficient manner.

5. Knowledge to interpret codes, regulations, laws and ordinances.

6. Ability to work tactfully, politely, responsively and effectively when dealing with others.

7. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, use of spreadsheets and report preparation.

8. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form.

9. Ability to remain calm and perform effectively during critical situations.

10. Use good judgment in making decisions.

11. Work independently with minimal supervision.

12. Must be neat in appearance, cooperative, dependable, thorough and able to comprehend and follow directions.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Possesses a valid Driver's License.

This is a safety sensitive position due to the considerable amount of time spent driving a City vehicle. Physical demands / work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
