Department Overview

The City of Warrensville Heights, Ohio is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer. The Warrensville Heights Police Department handles approximately 16,000 calls for service each year and offers an opportunity to work in many challenging environments. Currently there are 40 full time officers and support staff. Opportunities include but are not limited to regional SWAT team, criminal investigations, crash investigation unit, drone team, Cart Team, K-9 unit, detective bureau, community policing, and multiple county task forces. The City of Warrensville Heights operates its own full service jail and communication center. assessment, medical exam, drug screen, interviews, and any other
method necessary to ascertain the qualifications and abilities of the
applicant.

Applicant must be physically, mentally, emotionally, and medically
capable of performing the duties of the position.

The exam will be computer-administered and include subjects in reading, report writing and judgment. The entry exam must be taken and you must attain a test score of 70% or higher to be eligible for hire. A passing test result must be submitted to the City of Warrensville Heights no later than March 8, 2025. Test scores must be from exams taken through the National Testing Network on or after February 7, 2024. Applicants must be 21 years of age and a maximum of 34 years of age at time of appointment, must be a high school graduate or have a GED, possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and possess a valid Ohio Peace Officer Academy (OPOTA) certification. A physical agility exam (additional fee required) must also be taken and passed by those who have passed the written test.
