Under general direction and supervision of the Parks Director, this supervisory and technical position ensures efficient and effective operations of the Water Park (WP), and concession operations at Tink Larson Community Field (TLCF).
Examples of Duties
The City essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
-Effectively supervises and assists seasonal staff at the WP and TLCF in following all applicable City policies, department guidelines, as well as State rules and guidelines.
-Manages seasonal staff, prepares work schedules and assigns specific duties.
-Works collaboratively to accomplish efficient and elective operations at the WP and with TLCF concessions.
-Completes administrative assignments in a professional manner related to the WP and TLCF. Administrative requirements pertain to State regulations by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency(MPCA), Minnesota Department of Health(MDH), Department of Natural Resources (DNR), MnOSHA, Department of Agriculture, and applicable State Rules.
-Supervises and assists seasonal staff in complying with HR policies and guidelines established by the Human Resources Department.
-Assists seasonal staff in complying with financial policies and guidelines established by the Finance Department.
-Provides clear and concise directions in supervising and assisting daily opening and closing of facilities as apparent and clearly communicates unscheduled closings to the public and to City staff.
-Manage concessions inventory. This includes keeping track of inventory levels, completing a weekly inventory count, reporting damaged items, restocking food and supplies before each shift, communicating shortages to management, receiving deliveries, and ordering concessions and supplies.
-Oversee concessions transactions, making sure they are efficient, and employees are following proper sanitation and food safety guidelines when preparing food.
-Develops, recommends, supervises, and assists with implementing industry standard WP operations for lifeguards, concession staff, certified pool operations (CPO), and facility maintenance.
-Conducts professional quality research related to WP mandates.
-Maintains and improves exemplary levels of cleanliness, customer service, operations, and maintenance at the WP, and with concession operations at TLCF.
-Works with the Waseca School District to establish, coordinate, and implement lifeguard training and aquatics related training.
-Performs other duties as assigned or as apparent, in a professional manner.

Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience, and training required.
Associate Degree from an accredited university or college in a related field of study. Or currently works towards obtaining such degree.
This position requires the following certifications, or ability/eligibility to obtain, as determined by the City of Waseca:
-Class D Minnesota Driver's License

The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience, and training preferred in order to exceptionally perform all of the functions of this position.
Four-year Bachelor’s Degree in from an accredited university in a related field of study. Or currently working towards obtaining such degree.
Two(2) years in Aquatics or Municipal Pool Setting

Supplemental Information
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work scheduling requires Monday through Sunday flexibility during the WP season and also TLCF open season. The WP is open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 12:00 – 7:00 p.m.
COMPLEXITY
The overall complexity of this position is at a supervisory position level receiving general direction, and is not directly supervised on a continual basis. While performing the normal duties of this job, many different processes and methods are required to apply to an established technical field. The successful completion of responsibilities requires proven complex analytical skills, and excellent written and verbal skills in communication.
RESPONSIBILITY
Limited supervision is provided while performing the normal duties of this job. This position has formal supervisory responsibilities as a supervisor in charge of various aspects of an individual function. Overall responsibility of all facilities aspects lies with the Director.
While performing the normal duties of this job, this position’s work affects the overall efficiency and image of the City.
