Works under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator I (Recreation) in planning, scheduling, and overseeing Summer Camp program activities. Supervises all Summer Camp employees and volunteers.

Scope of Supervision
Supervises the Summer Camp Leaders, Counselors, and volunteers.
- Plans and schedules Summer Camp programs and activities as approved by the Recreation Coordinator I (Recreation).
- Prepares correspondence advertising planned camp schedules and activities.
- Maintains accurate records including, but not limited to, incident reports and participant & staff sign-in/out sheets.
- Submits reports to the Recreation Coordinator I (Recreation) weekly.
- Supervises Summer Camp program staff and enforces all program rules and policies.
- Responsible for the safety of each participant in all age groups. Campers are ages 3-6 or 7-12.
- Communicate with parents to inform them of children's accomplishments or poor behavior.
- Performs all daily minor maintenance during the program, including clean up, set up, and break down of equipment and facilities.
- Maintains equipment and supplies for the Summer Camp program.
- Communicates verbally and in writing regularly with participants, parents, the general public, and other agencies.
- Determines urgency of situations needing attention and intervenes as appropriate and notifies the Recreation Coordinator I (Recreation) and/or the Recreation Programmer II at the earliest possible opportunity.
- Punctuality and regular attendance are essential functions of this position.
- May perform other assignments and handle special projects as required.

Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation, or a related field preferred. Minimum five (5) years of verifiable experience in leading activities for the public in a camp, school, or recreational program. Experience must have been obtained at a school or center for school-aged children and/or young adults. Additional experience in supervising adults is preferred. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. Current First Aid training and CPR certifications required (training is part of orientation if selected for position).
Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.

The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate assigned equipment and vehicles and adhere to all safety guidelines. Possible exposure to irate citizens.

- Knowledge of provisions of city ordinances, resolutions, home rule charter, etc., as applied to childcare and recreation.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and ability to observe necessary precautions to secure the safety of recreation participants and be able to render first aid in the case of minor injury is required.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, local laws, codes, and regulations as applied to childcare and recreation.
- Ability to work tactfully with children of all ages.
- Ability to work alternate schedules as assigned.
- Ability to exercise discretion and judgment when dealing with confidential information.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with effective customer relations.
- Ability to determine the urgency of situations needing attention and intervene as appropriate and notify the Recreation Coordinator I (Recreation) or appropriate personnel.
- Ability to communicate with a diverse group including but not limited to, employees, managerial staff, public officials, children, and the general public while providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to interact well with fellow employees, participants, and parents/guardians is required.
- Skills in typing, compiling reports, and knowledge of Microsoft programs preferred.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in providing exceptional customer service in person, by email, and by telephone.
