IMPORTANT:

EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative only)
· Acts as the lead person and coordinates all work with the Water Bureau’s General Foreman;
· Adequately trains the Assistant Pump Station Foreman in the operation of all pump station critical assets;
· Responsible for the maintenance and operation of all pumps, valves, distribution components found in the pump stations, tank maintenance and upkeep, generator maintenance and upkeep, and electronic equipment generally used in the transfer, distribution and storage of potable water;
· Controls the pumping schedules and rotations of all pumps used to supply water to storage facilities; should be able to set limits on pumping times to maximize efficiency and avoid problems;
· Synchronize pumping schedules so as to assure uninterrupted flow between tanks and stations;
· Monitors and adjusts SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), to set alarms, limits, equipment rotations, and continually strive to add too the SCADA platform through technological advancements in the stations; Monitors and adjusts the radio and cellular based communication system and diagnose communication problems between all assets that could affect successful transfer of water to storage facilities;
· Inspects tanks, distribution piping, valves, motors, pumps for any irregularities and schedules/performs repairs when capable.
· Supervises and assists with the maintenance of pumping buildings and grounds including, but not limited to painting pump chambers and equipment, clearing brush and mowing grass in the pump station area;
· Maintains written reports on the status of pumping equipment and maintains pertinent records;
· Performs maintenance on all pressure meters, flow meters, differential meters and keeps accurate and detailed calibration records for all.
· Works with the Assistant Superintendent of Water to adequate fund and procure necessary assets to guarantee pump stations and tanks meet all regulations and safety concerns and can continue to provide continuous water supply without interruption.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of water pumping station operational capability and hydraulic equipment maintenance; good knowledge of mechanics, electricity and plumbing and skill in the use of the tools of the trades; ability to plan and inspect the work of others; ability to work independently and make proper decisions in emergency situations; ability to follow complex oral and written instructions; dependability, good physical condition; working knowledge of SCADA operation;
Ability to supervise the work of subordinate employees; Ability to be on-call and available 24 hours a day.
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST INDICATE ON YOUR APPLICATION THAT AS OF THE CLOSING DATE YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Graduation from a high school or GED. Three (3) years experience in the maintenance and repair of water systems and water pump stations. Considerable experience in mechanical, electrical and plumbing repairs related to pump stations is preferred. Must possess a valid State Motor Vehicle license with a good driving history.
CT Class-3 Distribution License Preferred.
