The City of Waterville seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Finance and Administration. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of municipal accounting principles and be able to manage the city's financial operations effectively.
Salary: The current salary range is $79,000 to $93,000.
About the Role:
- Plan, implement, and maintain the city's accounting system in accordance with established and accepted municipal accounting principles.
- Maintain all public records and serve as the staff liaison/secretary to the city records commission.
- Prepare financial reports for council, municipal administrator, department heads, and other stakeholders as required.
- Review requisition and purchase order requests, ensuring sufficient funds are available to cover the purchase or other financial obligations.
- Direct the posting of data concerning receipt and disbursement of funds to proper accounts.
- Perform reconciliations and cash flow analyses.
- Serve as secondary backup to the assistant finance officer for preparation and payment of vouchers and payroll.
Qualifications:
An example of acceptable qualifications includes a Bachelor's degree from a college or university with a major in accounting, business, finance, public administration, or a related field. The candidate must also have a minimum of five years of relevant local government or fund accounting experience, including at least three years of supervisory experience.
