What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard II (Temporary/Hourly) position at City of Watsonville?
This seasonal position is perfect for lifeguards who are currently certified lifeguards or lifeguards who have experience in working at an aquatic facility. Lifeguards will provide a safe and welcoming experience by patron education and injury prevention. Lifeguards will be par of the Aquatic Safety Team with duties to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. Duties also include: providing care for breathing emergencies, cardiac emergencies and sudden illnesses.
Important candidate characteristics include but not limited to: proficient swimmer, positive, mature, reliable, professional, courteous and consistent. Under general supervision, will assist in organizing, directing and implementing swim classes and recreational swim programs. Will instruct swim classes, lifeguard, supervise pool deck; do light office and locker room maintenance duties. Must have current First Aid and CPR Certificate, Lifeguard Training Certification (or be currently enrolled in a class prior to employment with a projected completion date to receive a certificate). Should have completed junior year in high school, and have experience in aquatics such as: swim team, life guarding, formal lessons, swim instructor or demonstrate a good knowledge of competitive and lifesaving strokes.
