This position performs technical administrative and supervisory work in overseeing and ensuring the effective and efficient mechanical operation of the wastewater treatment plant.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Full time, 7am - 3:30pm
Starting range: $82,339 - $98,902 Annually
Full salary range: $82,339 - $115,464 Annually

- Establishes methods for maintenance and preventative maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and collection system pump stations.
- Coordinates, prioritizes and schedules maintenance activities at the wastewater plant; supervises the maintenance work.
- Makes regular inspections of equipment and facilities.
- Maintains a budget for maintenance and collections maintenance; orders parts and equipment as necessary within established budget.
- Organizes emergency response to storms and equipment failure on a 24/7basis.
- Coordinates Collection crew and wastewater engineers.
- Supervises maintenance of 35 pump station sites.
- Coordinates plant and station grounds upkeep.
- Plans and recommends improvements to treatment facilities through the acquisition and installation of improved equipment and through the use of improved techniques and processes.
- Remains current on new technologies and processes relevant to treatment.
- Acts as support and backup to Process Control Supervisor.
- Maintains records and computer programs related to maintenance activities.
- Assists in the preparation of comprehensive reports on plant operations for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Assists with, plans and schedules employee training.
- Uses specialized software including GIS, VueWorks, SCADA, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Supervises between 13 and 16 full time (or full time equivalent) employees.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements of Work
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in an environmental science, engineering or related field and at least 4 - 6 years of experience in wastewater treatment operations and management, some supervisory experience is preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills:
Knowledge of:
*Biology, chemistry, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical principles related to wastewater treatment plant maintenance operations.
*Materials, tools and techniques used to maintain, repair and replace plant equipment.
*Operational hazards and the safety practices and techniques used to avoid or minimize risks.
*The use of standard office equipment including computers and relevant software programs.
Ability to:
*Assign, direct and supervise the work of others.
*Understand, follow and carry out instructions.
*Diagnose and implement corrective procedures relative to system malfunction.
*Establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, supervisors, employees and the general public.
Skill in:
*Public speaking.
*Oral and written communications.
*The use of specialized equipment and technology.
Necessary Special Requirements: An Advanced Wastewater Operator Certification preferred and may be required after hire.Physical Demands
