What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Aide - Yard Waste Site position at City of Wausau?

This temporary/seasonal position provides coverage, ensures compliance, and performs various duties at the Yard Waste Site in the City of Wausau.
- Verify customers of the yard waste site are City of Wausau residents.
- Issue permit stickers that verify residency for future use of the facility.
- Use scanner device to scan labels and document yard waste site usage.
- Maintain accurate records of yard waste site usage.
- Verify accuracy of records and statistic counts.
- Provide guidance and instructions to facility users regarding the facility and yard waste program operating rules and policies.
- Visually monitor incoming materials for compliance.
- Perform related work as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Eighteen years of age or older
- Physically able to work in all weather conditions and around traffic

Physical and Working Environment
Safety and working safely is top priority in this division. A reflective safety vest is required when on duty and is supplied by the department, as well as rain gear. All issued gear shall be returned at the end of employment.
Physical demands include: ability to stand for extended periods of time (4 to 8 hours), ability to reach, push, pull, crawl, climb, sit, stand, and walk. Ability to use hands to operate scanner device and write. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Seasonal workers risk physical hazards from working in and around traffic and heavy machinery. Exposure to noise, hazardous and toxic materials, fumes, gases, and odors are routine.This is a temporary/seasonal position from approximately April 1 through November (weather dependent). Candidates must be available for work during the regular hours of operation of the yard waste site (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Must be available work work every other weekend. Scheduled hours per week is approximately 15 /-.
Newly hired candidates for this position will start at the Year 1 rate of $16.00 per hour. Returning candidates to the same position will be paid according to the following chart:
Year 2 = $16.50 per hour
Year 3 = $17.00 per hour
Year 4 = $17.50 per hour
Satisfactory results of a background check, pre-employment physical evaluation, and drug screen are required for hire.
