Description
Under general supervision, process utility bills through the use of a computer; work with customers on questions about utility bills; type, file, process, and distribute a variety of documents and correspondence; answer telephones and respond to customer requests for information; perform cashiering functions; and perform other duties as assigned.

This is a multi-incumbent classification. The employees receive general supervision from the Utility Billing Supervisor, Assistant Finance Director, and/or Senior Accountant and exercise no supervision

Education, Training, and Experience:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. One year of clerical and cashiering experience.
License And Certificates
When driving is a requirement of the classification: A valid State driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.

- Processes utility bill payments.
- Handles customer inquiries both in person and on the telephone.
- Set up new accounts.
- Schedules re-reads of meters for accounts in dispute.
- Researches billings and payment histories upon request. Prepares written information to customers regarding billing and/or explanation of charges for utility billings.
- Accepts and posts payments for miscellaneous transactions, deposits from other departments, makes changes, balances cash drawer, and prepares bank deposits.
- Processes customer requests for utility connections and disconnections.
- Track payments received.
- Respond to public inquiries courteously; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience:
