What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Inspector I position at City of Waynesville?
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Inspector to join our team. As an Inspector, you perform technical building inspections and plan examinations to enforce compliance with City building codes, regulations and ordinances.
Responsibilities:
- Inspects commercial and residential structures during various stages of construction and/or remodeling.
- Analyze schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents to understand project requirements
- Conduct visual inspections to identify defects or deviations from standards
- Collect data and maintain accurate records of inspection findings
- Collaborate with construction management teams to address any issues or concerns
- Supports the Building Official when corresponding with architects, contractors, construction crews and the general public in the field and office.
- Provide recommendations for improvement in construction processes and quality control measures
-Performs other duties and assigned.
Experience:
- Previous experience in quality control or construction inspection preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and methods.
- Proficient in blueprint reading, interpreting technical documents and producing documents and reports pertaining to the job.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify defects or deviations
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for accurate data collection and record keeping
