What are the responsibilities and job description for the Camp Webegee Counselor position at City of Webster Groves?
Under the direction of the Team Leader, the Camp Counselor is responsible for carrying out daily activity plans, entertaining campers, and being a positive role model for participants. The Camp Counselor is to insure all safety risk management policies and procedures are followed.
- Assist Camp Leader and Director in developing weekly and daily activity plans
- Implement and lead age-appropriate daily activities
- Articulate camp rules to participants and enforce
- Supervise an assigned group throughout a full day of activities
- Communicate effectively with Camp staff, participants and parents
- Attend field trips, manage risk and assure safety of camp participants and staff
- Assist with program activities
- Interact with camp staff and participants while multitasking
- Be a role model for the City of Webster Groves and adhere to recreation policies and procedures in fulfillment of the Parks and Recreation mission statement
- Other duties as assigned
- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age or older
- Prior work experience with children is preferred
- Ability to plan, organize and personally lead children in a variety of games, activities, sports, and arts/crafts
- Mature attitude toward responsibilities, fellow staff and parents
