This position involves performing various tasks, including daily inspections, grounds maintenance, basic preventative maintenance, and housekeeping of the Wastewater Division Facilities. Additionally, the Technician assists with the Biosolids Management Program, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards set by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).Essential Job Duties : Provide respectful, professional, and positive service in all interactions with co-workers, internal and external customers, community members, and the public.Maintain a positive and productive environment, ensuring compliance with the policies, procedures, goals, and objectives of the City, Department, and Division.Assist with daily system inspections, basic preventative maintenance, and repairs at the Water Reclamation Center.Operate vehicles, lawn equipment, and heavy-duty rolling equipment, including front-end loaders, skid loaders, telehandler forklifts, tanker trucks, dump trucks, and large agricultural tractors used with biosolids application equipment.The City of Wentzville is committed to being an employer of choice, offering prosperous and meaningful career opportunities and flexibility. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements and / or substitutions may be requested and require the approval of HR.Valid Class B CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 120 days of employment required. A valid drivers license is required upon hire.Certification Wastewater DNR Operator Class D within 120 days of employment required.High school diploma or equivalent desired.Prior experience working with wastewater treatment or collection systems desired.Prior heavy equipment operating experience desired.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with this position.Knowledge of the functions of the wastewater collections systems, related state and federal regulations, lift station equipment, and sewer line maintenance and repairs.Proficiency in use of basic business software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations) and basic office equipment.Attention to detail and the ability to maintain concentrated focus.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers.Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.Regular attendance is a necessary and essential job duty.
