Job Summary
Employee performs complex administrative and clerical support services. Work involves performing internal administrative support work and disseminating information pertinent to the department.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepares for Building/Zoning Board Adjustments, and City Council Meetings by organizing agendas, minutes and materials both before and after meetings, contacting necessary parties and coordinating all other related activities.
- Responsible for maintenance of manual and electronic records such as permits and code & health enforcement.
- Produces quality correspondence and other routine documents, memos, vouchers, requisitions, bid documents, and contract documents.
- Assist with planning meetings and conferences.
- Assist staff, public and other departments in furnishing information to resolve problems.
- Answers telephone and handles in person inquiries, service request, complaints and/or directs to appropriate person/department in a helpful, courteous and efficient manner.
- Receives and processes citizen complaints on weedy lots, restaurants, mosquito problems, working without a permit, substandard buildings, and zoning.
- Assist with mail out of weedy lot letters and intake of weedy lot cut fees.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance, physically present to work.
- Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.
- Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Must have High School diploma; or equivalent (GED).
- Up to three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience to perform such job.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver License and be insurable.
- Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
- Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
- Permit tech certification must be obtained with 6 months of employment
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
