Examples of Duties
- Oversee daily operations of a 5-person team, including designers, events professional, digital strategist, and print shop supervisor.
- Create and execute strategic communication and public engagement plans to advance the City's initiatives.
- Regularly meet with Department Heads and other staff to develop content on new initiatives and / or public information on operational matters (election information, construction, leaf collection, tax collection, etc.), events, and other information of interest for the public.
- Manage departmental workflow ticketing system and identify process improvements.
- Prioritize tasks and assist team with time management.
- Coordinate with team members to produce print deliverables, copy, and graphic design content for City communications and seek editorial guidance from applicable City staff.
- Provide daily approvals, guidance and leadership to staff to ensure content and projects are aligned with the City's strategy and brand standards.
- Contribute to the creation of content as needed, by creating copy, graphics, videos, animations, collateral designs, etc.
- Translate City Administrator's outreach vision into actionable projects and assignments, ensuring work progresses on time and meets the highest quality standards.
- Build campaigns and stories to enhance community and regional engagement with the City of West Allis.
- Ensure projects are appropriate for target demographics and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Write, edit, and proofread content for spelling, grammar, and brand standards before publication / dissemination.
- Oversee management of City's Sharepoint intranet and coordinate, prepare, and publish content.
- Work closely with HR to further the City's employer brand as an employer of choice
- Support the City's employee recognition programs through communications and content.
- Coordinate publication of bi-weekly employee e-newsletter.
- Assist in the promotion of City of West Allis events by preparing communications plans and overseeing departmental workflows to produce and disseminate content.
- Assist Farmers Market staff in promotion of West Allis Farmers Market and market events.
- Manage media affairs; develop projects and activities to promote good public relations and improve the image of the city.
Qualifications
