Join Our Team as a WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor
Are you a passionate para-professional ready to make a meaningful difference in your community? The WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor is comfortable working with diverse populations, and thoughtfully supports and respectfully considers the needs and the situational experience of the predominant racial / ethnic background of the mothers you work with. You can easily communicate via the clinic, telephone, and text messaging per protocol; you are also thorough in your documentation. You know how to navigate challenges in client assistance as you help with acquiring breast pumps, after-hours support and participating in breastfeeding coalition meetings and special projects. Clinic Hours Monday-Friday 8 : 00-AM-4 : 30 PM. Flexibility scheduling to meet the needs of clients.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide compassionate breastfeeding support through clinic visits, telephone, and text messaging, following established protocols.
- Evaluate breastfeeding intentions, knowledge, and potential barriers for prenatal WIC participants.
- Maintain accurate records of all client interactions in the WIC ROSIE system.
- Offer and document breastfeeding assistance outside of regular hours.
- Participate in breastfeeding coalition meetings, special projects, and ongoing professional education (25 hours per 5-year cycle).
