What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at City of West Fargo?
Under general supervision, the Custodian will provide custodial services to all City of West Fargo buildings. This position will also perform minor maintenance tasks.
- Ensures workspaces and common spaces are sufficient by taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
- Sweeps and mops floors and vacuum carpets
- Washes and sanitizes toilets, sinks and showers and restocks supplies
- Wipes mirrors and windows
- Maintains facility grounds by performing minor grounds-keeping duties
- Utilizes insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests
- Performs maintenance and minor repairs (furniture repair/moving, replacing lights, minor leaks etc.)
- Assists with event set-up and tear down
- Reports major damages and repairs
- Works safely, follows safe work practices, and identifies and reports unsafe work conditions.
- Performs annual cleaning duties (carpet cleaning, floor stripping/waxing, etc.)
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors, other City departments, vendors, contractors, external government agencies and organizations.
- Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous custodial and/or maintenance experience
