The City of West Plains is seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to join our Parks Department as a Part-Time Parks Maintenance Worker. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, performing hands-on tasks, and contributing to the maintenance and beautification of our city parks and facilities.
The Part-Time Parks Maintenance Worker performs various duties related to parks maintenance and janitorial work at park facilities. Responsibilities include tasks such as mowing, weed-eating, cleaning, landscaping, minor repairs, and supporting special events. Strong physical capability to perform tasks such as lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, standing for long periods, and using ladders. This role requires schedule flexibility, including occasional weekends, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform janitorial duties in park facilities, including cleaning buildings, pavilions, bathrooms, playgrounds, sports fields, and parking lots.
Assist with general park maintenance tasks, including mowing, weed-eating, trash removal, landscaping, and minor repairs.
Operate hand and power tools such as mowers, chainsaws, brush cutters, and weed eaters safely and skillfully.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, facilities, and buildings.
Support setup and teardown for city-sponsored events and activities.
Ensure safety procedures and guidelines are followed during all tasks.
Interact courteously with the public and address citizen requests promptly.
Maintain and care for equipment used during daily tasks.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in janitorial work, landscaping, or general labor is preferred but not required.
Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri Driver’s License and meet the City’s Operation of Vehicles Policy.
Successful completion of a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and physical evaluation is required.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The part-time position has an hourly wage of $16.09.
A comprehensive benefit package is not offered with this part-time position.
