Position Summary
Leads the planning, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of summer playground programs and camps. Programs and camps are typically arts & crafts, sports, games, and free-play oriented. Provides on-site direction and support to Seasonal Youth Recreation Instructors.
The primary schedule is Monday-Thursday mornings at our playground program and a full-day on Fridays at our themed day camp. Schedule can have variation that includes some weeknights when other programming support as needed. Planning and preparation hours are flexible. Seasonal position is mid-May through mid-August.

Primary Duties
- Develop detailed program plans that include age-appropriate curriculum and daily schedules.
- Prepare equipment and supplies for implementation of program plans and activities, including the creation of arts and crafts models.
- Serve as the on-site leader, which includes directing work of Youth Recreation Instructors.
- Communicate program needs and updates to supervisor.
- Evaluate day camp programs and make program improvement recommendations to supervisor.
- Face-to-face communication with parents, guardians, and caretakers.
- Complete any necessary records and reports in a timely manner.
- Always ensure the safety and well-being of participants and staff. Use basic first aid procedures to assist injured participants. Contact EMS as needed.
- Maintain proper documentation for all accidents and incidents.
- Perform other duties and assumes other responsibilities as are apparent or assigned.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess a current driver’s license without suspension.
- Previous experience developing and implementing youth programs.
- Interest in youth development and achievement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working or volunteering for a municipality, community group, or non-profit.
- Pursuing education/training in Recreation, Education, or Child Development.
- Any combination of CPR/AED/First Aid Certification(s).

- Ability to interact with children and adults to provide a safe and fun recreation experience.
- While performing duties of this job, must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear; handle or operate objects, tools or equipment; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
