What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gymnastics Instructor position at City of West St. Paul?
Position Summary
The Seasonal Gymnastics Instructor will represent the City of West St. Paul and is responsible for actively leading and teaching the gymnastics program to serve youth, 1.5 – 6 years old. The City of West St. Paul's program is designed to teach beginner level gymnastics skills in a fun, safe environment. The hours are typically Saturday afternoons.
Primary Duties
- Maintain a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for youth and families.
- Teach various skill levels and ages in tumbling and gymnastics.
- Provides excellent customer service to families and patrons.
- Maintain on-going communication with recreation supervisor, Gymnastics Coordinator, and other instructors regarding program effectiveness and issues.
- Set up, break down and store equipment as needed.
- Use basic first aid procedures to assist any injured facility users.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must have previous training/experience in gymnastics.
- Previous experience working or volunteering with youth.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous teaching/coaching experience preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certified preferred.

- Knowledge of gymnastics, skills, and techniques.
- Skilled in leading, engaging, and inspiring youth.
- Communicate effectively.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the coordinator, other gymnastics instructors, program participants, and the general public.
- Sit, stand, and walk. Handles or operates objects or equipment. Reaches with hands or arms. Perform light physical labor including climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling light objects.
