CLASS SUMMARY: |
TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) |
1. | Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities including the maintenance of building equipment and systems (e.g. HVAC equipment and electrical systems) troubleshooting and equipment repair. |
2. | Performs preventative and proactive maintenance on facility systems, and works with other technicians and contractors for repairs and improvements. |
3. | Implement preventive maintenance schedule and or procedures. |
4. | Responds to requests for repairs and work orders and make appropriate reports; solves technical issues by identifying root cause(s) and identifying both short term and long term counter measures; follows up and inspects the quality of outsource contractor repairs. |
5. | Responsible for inventory control and notify supervisor when parts are needed or tools need to be replaced and have important spare parts in stock to minimize downtime in equipment. |
6. | Records and documents work history in equipment for facilities to manage and make the right decisions for replacement or repair of the equipment. |
7. | Performs repairs of electrical, HVAC, plumbing and lighting issues. |
8. | Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. |
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: |
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: -A/C Technician Registration -EPA Certification or ability to obtain within 12 months -Valid Texas driver's license |

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation; hazardous materials, such as chemicals, blood, and other bodily fluids; extreme temperatures; inadequate lighting; work space-related movement restrictions; intense noise; and other environmental conditions, such as, challenging behaviors, imminent danger, and threatening environments; incumbents may also be expected to travel. |
