GIS Analyst Internship

The purpose of the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Internship program is to provide students of undergraduate GIS-related studies with professional GIS experience in a public sector organization. This internship position will support citywide GIS from the Information Technology (IT) department. This program is intended to provide part-time employment in the GIS field. Upon the student’s graduation and completion of the GIS internship, the student should have received adequate training and experience necessary for an entry-level GIS job. 

This position reports to the GIS Analysts and Data Quality Manager.  

• The GIS intern is expected to: 
  • Perform entry level GIS work, including the creation and maintenance of GIS data within ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Assist in data clean-up and data quality testing
  • Assist in producing printed and virtual maps for stakeholders
  • Assist in troubleshooting stakeholders' issues and training
  • Assist with creating and updating project documents and instructions
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned
  • Careful review and attention to detail is a must
    
    
    

The applicant must be currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate degree program such as Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Environmental Science, or other related fields. Applicants must have prior hands-on experience in ArcGIS applications. Must have effective time management and demonstrated ability to meet project deadlines and goals with minimal supervision. 


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a part-time internship position.
The position will require occasional travel within the municipality for field data collection and meetings with departments.

Salary : $16 - $21
