POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION
The Hydro Systems Specialist position is skilled work in inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing swimming pool equipment, water features, spray grounds, park grounds, and other recreation center equipment as assigned. Tasks performed involve the use of acquired skills in chlorine and acid feeder systems, filtration systems, electrical installation and repair, pumping systems, general plumbing, and construction skills. In addition, this position will be required to work on non-pool related maintenance and repairs performed by the division. This person operates independently, and hours will vary outside traditional working hours. It will require overtime, weekend duty, and to be on-call.
The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate. The City of Westminster has a Multilingual Stipend Program to encourage and reward benefited employees who are conversationally fluent in languages other than English. Benefited employees have the opportunity to test their language proficiency skills and qualify for a bi-weekly stipend that will vary based on the employee's level of proficiency and usage.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
Essential Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks

2. Professionalism - Exhibit professionalism by maintaining and improving the appearance and image of the natatoriums, mechanical rooms, and water features
3. Stewardship - Maintain safe stewardship of tools, equipment, and an asset tracking system for equipment
4. Routines - Maintain and establish trackable routines for preventative maintenance, annual maintenance, and special projects
Make necessary repairs; requisition parts and materials; replace defective fuses, relays, and elements; reset relays; oil and lubricate bearings, and repack pumps as necessary
5. Systems Management - Manage hydro-systems water compliance and maintain records indicating operational compliance
Adjust, calibrate, and repair water that is out of balance.
6. Training - Ensure proper and safe use of chemicals, plumbing equipment, electrical equipment, pool and fountain equipment and vehicles throughout aquatic and maintenance teams involved in hydro-systems tasks

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is frequently performed indoors and outdoors with occasional exposure to extreme temperatures. Work is performed at over 28 City facilities year-round in all weather conditions. Various work assignments are performed with exposure to noise levels that may cause a distraction and high electrical voltage, up to 13,000 volts, in a high moisture area. Working environment may include small confined spaces, working on top of a four-story structure and performing repairs in an emergency situation. Exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals such as refrigerants, natural gas, asbestos, lubricants, all types of paint, drain cleaners, anti-freeze, and other chemicals as necessary.

Five (5)-ton bucket trucks, ¾-ton trucks and vans, electrical test equipment, electrical generators, basic hand and shop tools, saws, welders, ladders up to 45 feet in height, cherry pickers or overhead cranes, shovels, scaffolds, construction materials and supplies, drills, hammers, saws, air compressors, drain snaking equipment, paint sprayers, cutting torches, metal shears, Genie® lifts, two-way radios, pagers, personal computers and keyboards, telephones, fax machines, and other basic office equipment.

The City of Westminster does not participate in the Social Security system. In lieu of Social Security contributions, the city contributes to a 401(a) defined contribution plan on your behalf.
401(a) Contribution Rates :
Employee Mandatory Contribution : 11.5% of your base pay. Contributions are pre-tax and fully vested.
