The City of Wheaton Police Department is seeking a part-time Police Services Representatives to join their team. This vital and uniformed role works under the general supervision of the Police Services Manager and is responsible for providing customer service to residents, the public and other agencies. Exercising a high level of confidentiality, this position performs a multitude of assignments that support fellow Police Department staff in a fast-paced and highly visible environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide a high level of customer service by clearly communicating information and answering community-related questions regarding directions, information on City events, lost and found pets, requests for overnight parking, City ordinances and Illinois Vehicle Code inquiries.
- Cash handling duties that include receiving and processing petty cash and cash bail bonds in accordance with the Department’s internal procedures.
- Operate and maintain information management systems and databases including report utilization, running inquiries and generating statistic information.
- Records distribution, maintenance, management and file keeping which includes logbooks, current statistic data, police records and other City agency forms.
- Utilize and update the LEADS system with current information on missing and wanted persons, stolen vehicles, articles, etc., communicate with other law enforcement agencies, conduct computerized criminal history record information and ensure successful completion of the Illinois State Police annual audit.
- Process, issue and maintain various applications and permits. Assist in the gathering of documents and information to fulfill FOIA requests.
- Control and monitor Department booking area and facility access equipment.
Qualifications:
The qualifications listed below are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience, which could provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job will be considered.
High school diploma or equivalent and two to three (2 – 3) years’ experience in customer service. LEADS Certification preferred – training will be provided if not already obtained. Strong organization and time management skills along with the ability to work accurately and make sound decisions under pressure.
Salary: Starting pay rate is $19.94 per hour
