What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Technology Technician position at City of Whitehall?
Under the functional direction of the Director of Information Technology, the IT Technician provides technical support of hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Primarily this position is responsible for first level desktop problem resolution, project support and hardware/software installations. Initiative, attention to detail and excellent customer service skills are critical.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintains department's stability and excellent customer service at all times by answering questions and giving assistance surrounding information technology through researching issues and providing input where needed on a timely basis.
Troubleshoots reported problems/issues with end points which include but are not limited to desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones, printers, and other system peripherals and coordinates with vendors for warranty replacements/repairs.
Documents and reports resolution to reported problems via ticketing system.
Installs mobile & portable electronic equipment (e.g.; radios, portables, Vehicle Repeater System (VRS), emergency light bar, control cables, antenna, wiring, in-car video, body cameras, etc.) Perform final inspection on all electronic equipment installed in vehicles for accuracy & completeness
Repairs & refurbish electronic equipment (e.g.; repair lights, sirens & other electronic equipment used on & in fleet vehicles; repair electronic testing equipment used for monitoring & adjusting).
Installs, configures, and maintains, the Windows Deployment System (WDS).
Creates, maintains, and deploys images for endpoint systems which include but is not limited to installing software packages required by end users and work with appropriate vendors for vendor specific software installations.
Determines hardware, software, and system functional specifications for production workstations and/or other end user requirements.
Tests and modifies computer systems based on deployment specifications.
Creates, updates, and delivers documentation in the form of quick reference guides, user training guides, and knowledge base articles.
Maintains current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources.
Establishes and maintains strong vendor relationships with the appropriate IT related vendors.
Communicates technical issues with all IT staff to research and implement solutions.
Coordinates priorities with Director of Information Technology to ensure that the issues with highest priority are completed first.
Escalates complex or high impact issues/events to other team members in a timely and appropriate manner.
Performs other duties as assigned under the direction of the Director of Information Technology.Education and Experience:
Associate's degree and or certifications in areas noted within this job description
Minimum 1 years of experience with hands on information technology experience in areas noted within this job description

Knowledge of Federal Communications Commission rules & regulations governing communications equipment installation &/or repair; electronic & technical specifications.
