What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks & Recreational Seasonal General Operations, Maintenance and Splashpad position at City of Whitehall?
This position helps with general parks and recreation seasonal operations and performs a full range of duties relating to the Parks and Recreation Department.
Primary role will be to either (1) help maintain park grounds and facilities, and/or (2) enforce rules of the Splashpad. Additionally, all seasonal staff help provide support for events, programs and park rental operations.
Position can be tailored to area of interest and operational needs.

IMPORTANT JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ensure use of proper safety equipment, clothing, and procedures by self and team members.
Represent the City in a positive, efficient manner by exercising good judgement in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Provide exceptional customer service. Respond to inquiries from patrons and others, and refer, when necessary to the appropriate staff.
Report any malfunction of equipment, hazards, or other problems to supervisor.
Periodically test water and check chemical levels throughout Splashpad shifts. Maintain appropriate records.
Maintain knowledge of Splashpad and park rules.
Participate in organized and on the job training.
Cooperatively work with other staff to ensure a professional and enjoyable work environment.
Other duties as assigned.
SPECIAL EVENT DUTY:
Assistance with City-wide and department events and programs, including weekend and evening hours, is required. 2025 events are scheduled on the following dates:
May 23-25
May 30
June 27-29
July 2-4
July 18 - 20

Must be available to work special event dates in addition to weekend and evening hours as assigned
Assigned hours: 24-40 per week. Minimum availability: beginning of May for training through Labor Day
Minimum 16 years of ageKnowledge of and skill in:
Manual labor required. Manually shovel and move salt, dirt, mulch, snow, etc.; lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 lbs.

Pass a criminal background check with no wants or warrants
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee is subjected to indoor and outdoor environment conditions, extreme heat, direct/extreme sun, high humidity, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions. When working at the Splashpad, employee is subject to frequent contact with wet surfaces, and exposure to pool chemicals. Work requires sufficient physical strength and ability to independently and repeatedly lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
