BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to maintain the city’s sewer system, complete sewer rehabilitation activities, and perform all preventive maintenance activities. This is accomplished by preparing job sites, installing, cleaning and repairing sewer lines, maintaining water and sewer lines, replacing pipes, inspecting storm drains, completing construction work, and cleaning the shop. Other duties completing related assigned tasks.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Driver’s License Required – Y Type - A Endorsements – N – Tanker
Position requires a Wastewater Collection Operator I Certification.
Individuals who do not possess it will be given 24 months from promotion or hire to obtain or 4 failed attempts it as a condition of employment
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Mission Essential Position will be required to report for all inclement weather.
Must be able to work On-Call.
This position is expected to regularly work in or around bodies of water greater in depth than 4 feet, which may pose hazard, especially in the absence of swimming ability.
Employees of this classification must wear a self-contained breathing apparatus; thus, facial hair is prohibited.

1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice
2 M Cleans the shop by sweeping out the shop; emptying trash; reorganizing the parts shed; and reporting parts that need restocking.
H Assists equipment operators by picking up and delivering parts and equipment, spotting lines, and ensuring tools and equipment are available.
4 H Reviews work orders and completes jobs by inspecting sites, inspecting vehicles and equipment to be used, and completing repairs.
5 V Locates and cleans out lines by reviewing work orders and maps, flushing with water, and notifying customers of completion.
6 V Services, repairs, replaces and maintains sewer lines, and equipment by excavating in and around area, cutting off valves, cleaning out and restoring flow, removing and replacing parts, contacting customers to locate problems, investigating stop up complaints, completing paperwork, and checking and covering area.
