Test Procedures
As a Civil Service Agency, all positions open on the WFPD are filled from a list generated by an Entrance Exam. The Entrance Exam is a written test that rates an applicant's reading and writing ability. Following the written test, a Physical Fitness Test and a Video Assessment are given to assess the applicant's physical and behavioral skills.
Minimum Requirements For Physical Fitness Testing
The physical fitness entrance test for the City of Wichita Falls Police Department consists of a 2,000-meter row on a Concept 2 Rower. To successfully pass the Concept 2 Rower test, an applicant is required to complete the 2,000-meter row and achieve a minimum score of 40%, with the difficulty level set to "5". The passing score is determined based on your gender, age, and weight. All row tests will be administered by a certified tester. To determine your minimum standard for passing 40%, visit the Texas Department of Public Safety website, and follow the steps below:

The Academy
The Wichita Falls Police Academy is 28 weeks of classroom and hands-on training taught by seasoned Wichita Falls Police Officers who are the best at what they do. Scenario-based training is used throughout the academy allowing trainees to experience a vast array of "real life" scenarios in a controlled environment that prepares them for the career that lies ahead. Upon graduation, new officers enter the Field Training Program where they ride with a Field Training Officer for 16 weeks as they gradually take on more police duties.

- under the "Desired Results" section, type in "40"
- click "Calculate"
