This skilled work includes maintenance and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical systems, utilities, infrastructure, equipment and facilities unique to the operation and upkeep of the airports. Employees will perform a variety of skilled electrical and electro-mechanical trade tasks. Tasks involve the application of standard trade practices in maintaining and replacing a variety of electrical systems and equipment. Assignments are received orally or in writing. Work is performed independently, usually without supervision, but is frequently inspected upon completion.
Starting Salary Range: $23.14 - $ 25.54 depending on experience and qualifications
The days and hours for this position: Monday-Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs of electrical and electro-mechanical systems, utilities, infrastructure, equipment and facilities.
- Records labor, materials, budget codes and other required information into computerized facility data information system.
- Utilizes facility management system, power distribution system, airfield lighting system, runway SCAN system and other specialized facility management software systems.
- Research, evaluate and recommend purchases of supplies, equipment, and materials.
- Inspects electrical and electro-mechanical systems and equipment to evaluate need for repairs.
- Performs trouble-shooting and repairs to electrical and electro-mechanical systems and equipment.
- Maintains and assists in the replacement of transformers and other related and auxiliary electrical distribution systems and components.
- Performs snow and ice removal operations during winter season.
- Research, develop and recommend new, modified or improved electrical safety procedures when necessary.
- May train employees on routine work and provides instruction in the performance of new duties.
- May supervise or perform "lead" responsibilities of other employees depending on expertise in the trade, system or project.
- Completion of work assignments will require the operation of a vehicle.

- Thorough knowledge of modern methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in electrical maintenance.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical, electro/mechanical and building trades involved in airport maintenance.
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to safely use and care for tools and equipment needed to perform electrical maintenance tasks.
- Thorough knowledge of industry standard electrical safety procedures, guidelines and protocols.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of National Electric Code (NEC).
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to learn and apply technical policies, standards, and regulations.
- Ability to hear and speak over the telephone, company radio and VHF radio.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

- Ability to climb stairs and ladders; work at heights of up to 30', bend and twist as necessary to repair equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds; to lift and carry up to 120 pounds with the assistance of another person.
- Ability to tolerate working conditions that may include jet engine fumes, odors, and exhaust.
- Ability to work outdoors during inclement weather performing maintenance or snow removal activities.
- Ability to work under sound conditions up to 100 decibels with appropriate ear protection.
- Ability to distinguish colors and brightness accurately under day or night conditions.
- Far vision sufficient to determine condition of internal and external facilities and equipment during normal, emergency and adverse weather conditions.
- Ability and willingness to work any shift, holidays and mandatory overtime during times of critical need.
- Ability to pass the federal security background investigation required by the DHS/Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to acquire and maintain airport security identification and access control media.
- Ability to pass required AOA and Airport Security Access training as required by FAA and TSA regulations.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and representatives of other organizations
- Ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license
- May require ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas class A commercial driver's license (CDL)

Required experience and training
- Four years of experience in skilled electrical trades, high-tech electronic systems, and/or electro-mechanical systems troubleshooting and repair.
- A City of Wichita journeyman electrical certificate.
- A valid Driver’s license
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
Preferred experience and training
- A valid Class A CDL.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a physical examination, which includes drug screening.
Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.
