What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Summer Intern position at City of Wichita?
This is advanced clerical to paraprofessional work generally performed in an office setting in a support and learning capacity for the finance department. Interns maybe involved in research, analytical work and special projects. Work is assigned based on the employee's level of education and experience. Work is directed and reviewed by a professional supervisor.

- Performs intern-level work assigned by the department.
- Attends meetings in conjunction with management.
- May review, update and implement operations policies and procedures.
- May review processes and provide recommendations.
- May conduct financial studies and develop and present recommendations.
- May work in conjunction with the Director of Finance or other Division managers.
- Completion of work assignments may require operation of a vehicle.

Required Experience and Training:
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or masters program.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.

- Attainment of passing scores on pre-employment tests. Candidates with required experience and training will be required to take the following assessments:
- Microsoft Excel 2013 – Whole Test
- Business Writing
Preferred Experience and Training:
- Currently enrolled in college, with a focus on accounting, business management, finance, business administration, or public administration.
- A current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of a criminal record check.
