What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lift Station Technician position at City of Wildwood?
Performs general and routine maintenance of all mechanical process equipment involved in the City's lift station facilities. Work hours are normally 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday but may include other hours as needed.
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work of Lift Station equipment. Performs semi-skilled and skilled repair and maintenance on mechanical components and equipment
- Repair work is performed from daily inspections, PubWorks work orders, malfunction reports from SCADA alarms and plant operations, work orders, immediate supervisor or other supporting staff and all manufacturers' recommendations in the O&M Manuals
- Work includes but not limited to pump coupling alignment, packing, pump replacement, bearing, seals, shafts, gears, motors, chemical process equipment, storage and feed systems, valves and all other general equipment
- Checks and maintains pumps, motors, compressors, piping, connections at the facilities
- Coordinates maintenance and repairs with the staff. Troubleshoots individuals pieces of mechanical equipment and makes recommendations for repairs
- Follows all safety policies and procedures such as Lock Out/Tag Out, confined space work and using proper safety equipment. Uses all electrical and hand tolls necessary to perform work
- Maintain all data and preventive maintenance schedules and records, tools and parts inventory necessary for the complete operation of the lift station
- Responds to all emergency situations, outages, and equipment failure as needed
- All other duties as assigned
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of industrial pumping equipment
- One (1) year of vocational or technical training may be substituted for one year of experience preferred
- Must posses a valid State of Florida Driver's License
- Must obtain a Class B CDL License within one (1) year of employment
- Must possess a Class III Collections Tech Certification or ability to obtain within two (2) years of employment
- Knowledge of operations and maintenance of pumps, valves, and other process equipment associated with the operation of the lift station
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required maintenance and operation of a wide variety of specialized equipment
- Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance and repair activities of lift stations
- Document and maintain accurate maintenance records
- Knowledge and use of all types of shop and hand tools
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time
- Ability to work safely and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instruction
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to remain calm in stressful conditions
- Ability to follow direction and have mechanical aptitude
