LABORER 1 (STREET DEPARTMENT)
City of Williams Position Description Full-time Position (Grade 4)
Summary of Position
Performs skilled and semi‐skilled work in maintaining equipment, machinery, curbs, gutters, streets, sidewalks, rodeo grounds, recreation areas, and public facilities.
Organizational Relationships
1. Reports to: Foreman or Superintendent
2. Directs: This is a nonsupervisory position.
3. Other: Works with other city employees and the general public.
Essential Duties
• Specializes in street maintenance, including construction tasks, equipment repairs, patching and crack-sealing, and operating the cinder truck and jackhammer.
• Performs manual labor, including digging and shoveling.
• Assures that Service Orders are completed promptly.
• Available for emergency work: evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Performs other related duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Mechanical aptitude and skill in the use of tools.
• Ability to perform work requiring sustained climbing, standing, lifting, bending, kneeling, sitting, and walking.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds regularly.
• Ability to handle and work around potentially dangerous materials.
• Ability to use and wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to maintain physical exertion for extended periods, under adverse weather conditions, at high altitudes, and exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals and materials.
• Must possess and maintain a valid, current Arizona Driver’s License.
