Summary: Performs semi-skilled work in the operation of light construction, snow removal, and other specialized equipment with routine maintenance responsibilities for assigned equipment.Supervision Received: Director of Public Works, Operations Manager, Street & Refuse Superintendent, Cemetery Lead WorkerSupervision Exercised: NoneFLSA Status: Non-ExemptEssential Job Functions: Operates the following pieces of equipment: dump trucks, front-end loaders, tractors, mowers, light backhoes, pumps, concrete saws.Performs required manual labor as crew member involved in construction, street maintenance projects and cemetery maintenance operations.Loads and unloads trucks, hauls snow and transports loads to predetermined disposal points.Must be on call periodically on weekends or after hours.Performs related work as required.Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies and procedures.The nature of this position requires the ability to respond to emergencies in a timely fashion. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.Education: High school graduate or equivalent.Experience: One year experience as a truck driver or operator of construction and maintenance equipment OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.Necessary Special Requirement: Valid North Dakota commercial driver license; insurable under the City’s motor vehicle insurance policy.*Position is safety sensitive and requires pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and is subject to controlled substance requirements at all times when on duty.Equipment Used in Job Performance: Dump trucks, front-end loaders, tractors, movers, light backhoes, pumps, concrete saws.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
