Transit Shift Leader
The City of Wilmington, Ohio, is seeking two part-time Transit Shift Leaders within the Wilmington Transit System. Under direction, the Transit Shift Leader assists the Director of Public Transportation in organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the City of Wilmington Transportation System. The Shift Leader position will primarily work evenings and weekends.

Under direction, the Transit Shift Leader assists the Director of Public Transportation in organizing, coordinating, and overseeing the City of Wilmington Transportation System. The Shift Leader position will primarily work evenings and weekends.
This position is a safety-sensitive position requiring the inspection and maintenance of all vehicles on a regular basis to ensure the safe and lawful operation of the system fleet. Performance of these duties must be conducted in compliance with all applicable DOT, federal, state, local, and system regulations and policies, including U.S. DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations.

- Oversees and supervises the transit operations;
- Supervises, and coordinates, the activities of assigned staff;
- Reviews daily log sheets, reports of service delays, or accidents and takes appropriate action;
- Councils and coaches employees to improve performance and conduct;
- Observes safe operating practices at all times.
- Verifies the work of assigned employees for accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications;
- Communicate with dispatchers and other drivers over a radio as needed.
- May perform duties as driver or dispatcher in the absence of a driver or dispatchers
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess an Ohio Drivers License and maintain insurability.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT Physical & Drug Screen.
- Three (3) years of experience in transit or related field, which includes at least one (1) year of experience radio dispatching; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
The starting base salary will be consistent with the City's approved pay plan; this position's base pay rate is $21.04 per hour; hourly rate of $23.14 including a shift differential of 10% beginning at 6:00 PM.
