The Human Resources Technician will perform a variety of duties by supporting staff within the department in the areas of recruitment, compensation, safety, training, and benefits. Additionally, this position serves as a key resource for employees by answering questions about a variety of human resources issues.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Respond to a wide variety of questions from managers, employees, applicants and customers regarding various employee programs, benefits, recruitments, and policies. Assist in conducting surveys of compensation, benefits, personnel policies, and practices; respond to requests for such information from other agencies.Process People Actions Forms (PAFs) for various actions such as new hires, promotions, transfers, add-pays, and terminations in the City’s HRIS.Schedule and assist with New Employee Orientation; ensuring all new hire documents are up to date and completed by employees.Maintains training calendar and and registrations for upcoming training and development sessions, send out reminders and responds to questions about events. Maintains content on the internal HR website. Administer the Educational Assistance program by answering employee questions, processing applications ensuring compliance with City policy, and submitting requests for reimbursement through the City’s financial system. Monitor budget and provide periodic reports to management on program utilizationCoordinate the employee recognition program by assisting the recognition committee with receiving & processing nominations, creating correspondence, and scheduling recognition ceremonies and other events.Serve as primary backup to the front desk by answering phones, greeting visitors, retrieving requested documents, providing information regarding programs and services and referring customers to other staff members as appropriate.Performs other related duties as assigned.
