The hiring range for this position is $35,266.06 (minimum salary) to $48,544.91 (midpoint of range) dependent upon qualifications.
This position is responsible for performing field duties in support of the meter service functions of the department.
Job Responsibilities
Major Duties
- Read electric, gas, and water meters as necessary for data validation and audit purposes.
Load and unload data to and from a hand held computer.
Investigate reports identifying meter communication, tampering and / or malfunction issues and performing related remediation tasks.
Process Billing orders related to meter or reading concerns.
Investigate utility meter locations for compliance with meter access policies.
Operate equipment necessary to identify utility meters, clear vegetation / silt to provide meter access and communicate with customers regarding utility meter access policies.
Operate a City vehicle according to City policies.
Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Education / Experience Requirements
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship / internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Knowledge Requirements
Knowledge of the function and operation of utility meters.
Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures and federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Skill in the operation of hand held computers used in the recording of meter data.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as goggles and gloves. The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, bending, crouching, stooping, or walking. The employee frequently lifts light objects and sometimes lifts heavy objects.

Salary : $35,266 - $48,545
