What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefit Programs Specialist position at City of Winchester?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes required State and in-house training on various government programs
- Registers applications for assistance, executes system searches and schedules initial interviews
- Interviews persons for assistance, obtains necessary information, and makes eligibility determinations
- Engages client in a positive working relationship
- Explains benefit programs and determines reasons and need for assistance, as well as other Social Service programs
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED is required. An Associates degree in social sciences or a related field is preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Bilingual spanish-english is preferred
- Willing to participate in mandatory state training including Medicaid and SNAP
