What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Inspector/Firefighter position at City of Winooski?
The Fire Inspector/Firefighter serves the community by completing work in accordance with standard practices and established Community Risk Reduction (CRR) policies and procedures relating to life safety/health inspections and responds as part of the daytime emergency response team.
The Fire Inspector will conduct routine life safety, health, housing, and commercial inspections. This work will be done following adopted Federal, State, and local codes i.e. Public Building Registry. This work will include ALL aspects of prescribed inspections, followups, and documentation of such. Will support enforcement action(s) under the guidance of the Fire Marshal or designee i.e. Asst. Fire Marshal.
Performs Community Risk Reduction (CRR) duties as directed by the Fire Chief and/or Fire Marshal. These may include pre-determined social Media messaging, public education, data collection etc. This work will typically be done as a “Team” initiative/task.
Works as part of the emergency response team responding to emergencies while on duty and assisting with equipment/station maintenance.
- Minor Administrative tasks such as time sheets are completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Participate in the continuous improvement of the City of Winooski by identifying concerns and offering solutions.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.62 - $22.32 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
