What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Crew Coordinator II - Wastewater position at City of Winston-Salem?
Performs difficult skilled trades work maintaining and repairing mechanical components of wastewater treatment systems, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Utilities Supervisor. Continuous oversight is exercised over all personnel within the team. Maintains a safe work environment and ensures all city policies are followed.

Supervises employees; schedules safety/training class for employees; keeps timesheets; performs performance reviews and evaluations; assigns work; trains other mechanics in the repair and maintenance of new and existing wastewater plant equipment.
Performs daily inspections of plant, noting any repairs that are needed; performs visual/hands on inspections of tanks.
Diagnoses and repairs complex equipment related to the wastewater treatment industry; creates new preventative maintenance work orders; monitors trends in repairs and failures to recommend new cost saving and less problematic procedures and plans.
Research and purchases parts or services required for the repair and upkeep of equipment; manages parts inventory and stock room.
Manages all City assets for responsible work sites; completes progress reports; manages computer-based asset management program.
Reads manuals, blueprints and standard operating procedures to set up and deploy maintenance intervals for all equipment.
Thorough knowledge of related industry, organization and department policies, practices and procedures; Thorough knowledge of blueprints, factory manuals, and engineering specifications; thorough knowledge of telemetry, trending reports, and graphs of the trade; thorough knowledge of timesheets and employee appraisals; billing statements, and invoices; thorough knowledge on reading meters; thorough knowledge of the use and operation of equipment related to the trade; ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to compute measurement conversion in field; ability to compute flow, pressure, and other liquid mathematical principles; ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with associates, supervisors, and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and considerable experience working with hydraulics, pump, and mechanical components, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
- Valid Commercial Drivers License.
- Ability to obtain Forklift Operator's License within 6 months of hire.
- OSHA Safety Training.
