What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Clerk position at City of Winston-Salem?
Under immediate supervision, performs responsible clerical and routine technical work in the operation of a municipal storeroom; does related work as required.
- Distributes supplies and collects surplus from City departments
- Checks quantity and quality of items received against invoices and reports discrepancies
- Unpacks and stores items
- Issues stocks and tools to various individuals;
- Performs office clerical duties related to storeroom operation
- Takes periodic and special inventories
- Cleans warehouse and maintains warehouse grounds
- Picks up parts and supplies at vendors
- Loads and unloads truck orders.
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and some experience in inventory and acquisition of parts and supplies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Some knowledge of modern storeroom and inventory practices; ability to count and inspect a variety of materials accurately and thoroughly; ability to drive light automotive equipment; ability to lift articles of medium weight.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires frequent walking, standing, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stretching, pushing, pulling, or lifting and also involves exerting between 26 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds; exceptional skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy. This position will work indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to changing weather, adverse smells and sights, loud sounds and repetitive operations.Salary : $37,357
