Essential Job Functions:
Performs frontline customer service responsibilities and maintains reception area at Florida Citrus Building. Receives and responds to requests, concerns, and inquiries pertinent to Florida Citrus Building and other rental facilities. Receives and screens calls, takes telephone messages, supplies general non-technical information about division/departmental operations; and when required, refers calls to other department employees or officials. Opens and processes daily mail. Operates a variety of office equipment including a copy machine, computer, and printer. Assists the general public and other department personnel when needed. Utilizes Recreation Management Software to assist in making rentals, checking availability, and working with customers. Occasionally assists in recreation programs with registrations or rentals; some of these activities may occur in the evenings and/or weekends. Assists Recreation Supervisor with handling questions with rental inquiries. Retrieves and assembles information for supervisor’s use. Maintains appointment calendars. Must be flexible with breaks and lunches. Occasionally will assist Building Service Staff with setup or breakdowns and light cleaning. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures; business English, spelling, and punctuation; and office equipment.
- Ability to learn the functions and operations of the organization; learn the names and departmental locations of employees; speak clearly and distinctly; use a well-modulated and pleasing voice and to use correct grammar in choice of words; understand and follow oral and written instructions; operate a console-type telephone unit/switchboard; and type at a proficient rate of speed.
Minimum Education & Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two years’ experience in performing clerical work.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the foregoing specific requirements may be substituted.
Special Requirements:
- Possession of a valid Florida driver's license and a good driving record as determined by the City of Winter Haven.
