Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a City Clerk. As the City Clerk, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the city government and maintaining accurate records of official proceedings.
Duties:
- Be custodian of the official city seal
- Maintain records of the Mayor and City Council - Attends City Council and takes minutes of meetings
- Serves as City Elections Superintendent & coordinates others elections with the County - Perform legal research and draft legal documents, resolutions, and ordinances
- Maintain and update official city records, including ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and agreements
- Assist with the preparation of city council agendas and distribute meeting materials
- Respond to public inquiries and provide excellent customer service
- Coordinate public hearings and ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Manage the filing system for city documents and records
- Process various permits, licenses, and applications
- Conduct data entry and maintain databases - Notify tax assessor and appropriate companies of change in the city boundaries for tax changes and franchise fee collection - Perform related work as required by the City Administrator, Mayor/Council - Supervision of Municipal Court - Become certified as City Clerk from State of Georgia
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in record keeping
- Proficient in office software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Knowledge of legal drafting techniques and research methods
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective correspondence with city officials, staff, and the public
- Previous experience in an administrative role is preferred
